What Can I Borrow Against?
Gold & Platinum Jewellery, Diamonds, Laptop Computers, Digital Camcorders, Digital Cameras.
The main consideration is that you are leaving your item as security for a loan. It must therefore have a suitable guaranteed resale value against which we can lend!

How Much Can I Borrow?
You can borrow up to £10,000 on any one contract. Our low operating costs mean we have a minimum loan available of as low as £15. As a guideline you will generally be able to borrow up to 2/3rds of the second-hand resale value of your items which will obviously be much less than the recommended new price.

The Contract
Pawn broking contracts are for a period of 6 months and are regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974. You bring your goods to us and we agree a loan amount. Interest on the loan then accumulates each month. Interest is only payable at the time the contract is settled. We retain your goods until the contract is settled.

Operational requirements
1. Vender must be over 18 years of age.
2. One document of identification must be produced i.e.: Passport, driving license, or similar.

 

Can I pay by cheque?

We'll always accept cash (of course)! Provided the amount is over £ 20.00 we'll accept your cheque (backed by a guarantee card). And again for amounts over £ 20.00 we'll accept Switch or Delta cards. Please note we cannot accept loan repayments by credit cards (including American Express).

Does the shop insure the pledge?

No, we only insure to cover the value of the pledge. If the worst should happen, and the pledge is stolen from us, our insurance covers the loan, so you don't have to pay it off.

I've forgotten or lost my Receipt - Can I redeem my pledge?

No. Pawnbroking is strictly regulated by law. And there are procedures we have to follow. We cannot hand over your jewellery unless the receipt is produced. The law is intended to protect your property, although we realise it can be difficult for you at times. At best losing your receipt is expensive. Care for it as you would care for your jewellery. Also do remember that if somebody finds the receipt they could pay off the loan, and walk away with your jewellery!
